PC Maintenance 101
So, you’ve finally bought that sleek new Quad-Core system you’ve been wanting, or you just want to get more time out of the one you have, maybe it’s running slow. Maybe it has a virus, maybe a wayward .jpg warning has taken over your screen and telling you that your machine is at risk.
This guide is to help YOU the owner, learn how to remedy the situations above as well as keep your system in tip-top condition for as long as time allows. (Keep in mind all systems do eventually fail, usually due to hardware malfunctions such as motherboards, hard drives, monitors and video cards. Troubleshooting and repairing those issues is covered in a different guide.)
This guide is not going to tell you to buy some expensive software package, or computer monitoring program. All software talked about in this guide is free for your use under open source public licensing agreements. I am just going to show you how to use them, and how to maintain a healthy, happy system free from malware, spyware and sluggishness. By following this simple guide you will have all the knowledge you need to run smoothly.
